"Lueur d’Orient" Association

France-based association Lueur d’Orient,  founded by Pierre Loti,  works to educate children in southern Vietnam. It serves the dual purpose of supporting Vietnamese children access education, and educating French society about local children's issues in Vietnam.

Lueur d’Orient helps children aged 10 to 12 in Vietnam who have never attended school.  It helps them finally get an education, teaching them to read, write and count, and gives them a chance to live their life as a child. The association also works to raise awareness among parents of these children about the fundamental role of education in brightening their child’s future.

Lueur d’Orient is focused on raising awareness in France about the plight of children in Vietnam. In addition to what an exchange between two such different cultures can bring, we hope children understand how lucky they are to receive an education and become responsible adults.
